Waste particles trapped in the teeth should be removed so as to avoid decaying process.
There is nothing like 12 hours protection etc.!
Danta Dhavana is necessary especially after having meal because maximum waste gets trapped in between the teeth at this time and it remains there until next morning Danta Dhavana. In this way, Decaying process gets daily sufficient time. To avoid this we should do Danta Dhavana, after each food intake.
By using few herbs and rest all chemical compounds, no toothpaste can become an ayurvedic.
Actually in Ayurveda only herbal sticks or churnas are mentioned for Danta Dhavana. But if paste is made by avoiding harmful chemical compounds, colours & preservatives, it is always welcome.

Why our previous generations tooth were firm, till the end?
Why we are needing many root canals?
Why we are unable to peel sugar cane?
Why our jaw is dislocated, while eating dried coconut piece?
Why we need to use Artificial Denture between the 50’s & 60’s of our age?
Is tooth cleaning specifically indicated for attracting girlfriends & having kiss?
we should introspect & rethink over all these conditions.
“so to avoid early use of Artificial Denture do Danta Dhavana!”

Reader’s let us discuss today the merits and demerits of sitting and walking!!

The person who spends most of the time indoor by sitting in a place maintains a good complexion. It’s because he seldom has to face, sunrays, dust, vehicle smoke & fast air.
Sitting for a long time without exercise decreases metabolic rate & produces excessive kapha which promotes diseases like cold & asthma. As kapha and meda are of same nature, meda dhatu also gets increased.

As kapha and meda are of same nature, meda dhatu also gets increased. It causes fat deposition at buttock, thigh, chest and abdominal region. Existing fat is not utilized and new fat goes on depositing due to lack of movement. Excessive abdominal fat causes lumbar pain. Obesity is further responsible for Hypertension and Diabetes.

Long-term sitting schedule or habit imparts laziness. Laziness causes lack of exercise, which induces hardly any muscular movement and hence muscles are provided with less blood circulation. Ultimately muscles are not nourished significantly. These people are mostly sluggish. They can not accustom with changes such as sunrays, wind, rain & traveling, hence they are called as Sukumar.

If we take slight rest after an exertion it gives immense pleasure.
Kapha, obesity & Sukumarata vanishes due to extensive walking. Complexion gets darker than usual.aaa

Daily walking increases metabolic rate. Intake, Absorption & Excretion improves. Blood circulation gets enhanced. Muscular power is gained. A brain is nourished well, which increases intellectual power. Proper digestion & excretion ultimately improves appetite. Sense organs perform at it’s best.

That’s why instead of being relaxed by
consuming anti-coagulants & anti-cholesterol drugs, let’s wake up & walk from today itself.
And enjoy the healthy life!!

Vaamkukshi Vichar

Readers today we will discuss the topic called Vaamkukshi.

After Shatapavali you should lie down on the back. You should breath 8 times in this position. Later you should breath 2 times on right lateral position.
After that, you should breath 4 times on left lateral position and have a sound rest.
After having meal “Vayu” generally moves above the umbilicus, so to promote good digestion, you should lie on the left lateral position.

Sleeping on the cot inhibits all the three doshas :-

  • Sleeping on the cotton made a bed, inhibits Vata Kapha.
  • Sleeping on the wooden bed aggravates Vata.
  • Sleeping on the ground is good for health.

According to some Acharya’s sleeping on the ground aggravates Vata and Rukshata (dryness). It inhibits Raktapitta (a disease in which intermittent bleeding from nose, mouth, rectum, urethra, skin or other parts of the body take place without any external injury.) According to me, this will be seen, if you sleep on the ground, in rainy or winter season & if you sleep on the ground in summer, it will improve your overall health.

Sushayyashayana ( i.e. Sleeping on the good bed set at a good location and considering all favorable criteria ) improves mood, health, sleep, and memory.
It relieves shrama (fatigue) and Vata. It is *vrushya*(aphrodisiac) in nature.
All other shayya’s (sleeping objects or techniques) are opposite in nature.

If you have a sleep after Samvahana (gentle massage) it is good for muscles, blood & skin.
It inhibits Kapha Vata and Shrama (fatigue). It induces sound sleep. It is Vrushya (aphrodisiac) in nature.

According to my view, “Sushayyashayan” means sleeping on the ground or bed decided as per our health requirements.
Shayya should be plain. It should be devoid of wood parts, thorns, debris & mud.
It should be out of risk from vehicles & animals.

Shatapavali (100 steps)

Readers today we will discuss on the topic called ‍“Importance of Shatapavali”.‍

Ayurveda advises walking slowly for at least 100 steps after having a meal.
First of all, make it clear that intention of this‍ walking is not for fat burning.
If we ‍walk fast after having a meal it increases all the three doshas in the body. People suffering from Hypertension or any other Cardiac Disorders may land in an emergency situation.

Due to scientific Shatapavali food gets proper movement and direction. It also induces lightness in the upper part of the stomach. Neck, Thigh & Lumbar region gets better relaxation.
If we just get settled after eating, it induces‍ sleepiness. If we didn’t avoid this and made the habit of post-meal‍ sleeping, then respiratory diseases, obesity, and its related disorders will trouble the individual.

Some ‍women give an excuse of back pain to have a post-meal sleep. But I recommend them, to do ‍shatpavali‍ and have a rest on Aaram Khurchi. i.e. special chair designed for relaxation with having a facility of inclination and by using a pillow for lower back support.

Some men say that, it is merely impossible to avoid‍ sleep after the meal. But if we observe clearly, this is mostly seen in those, who don’t drink water while eating and drink it, only at the end of the meal & that also in large amount. If we imagine our stomach as in four parts, 2 parts should be filled with food,1 part should be filled with water & last but the most important 1 part should be kept empty for healthy movement of the Vayu which is necessary to keep our digestive fire ignited. But due to this misjudgment of drinking water, the stomach becomes loaded and one can’t resist the‍ sleepiness.

Scientific application of ‍ “Shatapavali”‍ promotes good digestion and improves quantity and quality of life.
