Hello…. How was your Valentine’s Day celebration yesterday? We are sure you are on the top of the world, feeling loved & pampered in several different ways. So, did you celebrate your Valentine’s Day with your Loved ones in a homely environment? Or did you hang out with your loved ones or friends enjoying late night dinners with a high-spirited mood? For some as the day approached the anxiety levels must have been aggravated before and after the celebrations causing lack of sleep. And the new trend of “Wine & Dine” with new spirits may now add on to the already elevated anxiety levels. Thinking about what to do next, don’t worry, keep reading along and we will give you the best Detox solution to keep the Self Love back on track!!

Celebrations are meant to spread happiness. Valentine’s Day should be celebrated to spread love and affection. However nowadays feelings are not important but the way you celebrate them becomes more valuable. Consumption of deep fried, confectioneries, desserts, non-veg food are calorie dense, heavy to digest and lack nourishment may cause some impact on your metabolism the next day.

Major consequence posts any happy celebrations is slowing down of the metabolism reflecting into indigestion, bloating, hyperacidity and abdominal pain the next day.

According to Ayurveda, lack of sleep, late night heavy food (guru aahar) consumption leads to aggravation of Vata, and it affects the normal function of Pitta. Vitiation of pitta increases toxins (Samata) in the body. This may lead to weight gain. Aggravated Vata may lead to elevated anxiety levels, nervousness and feeling of depression.

To overcome this situation, one needs to calm and detoxify not only the body but also the mind.
To detoxify the body, one should prefer easily digestible food (laghu aahar), along with some soothing and warm beverages and some relaxation activities. This will not only soothe your senses but also help you rekindle the beautiful moments you shared with your loved ones the previous day.

 

Options

Early morning

Sip in warm water with an herb of your choice

Breakfast

A light warm home-made breakfast, complemented with a fruit of your choice or a prune detox juice option.

Lunch

Soft, cooked dish or a steamed (non-fermented) option, complemented with (mint leaves infused water)

Dinner

A warm clear soup or with scrumptious Indian rice with dal combo khichdi full of veggies with humble serving of clarified butter (ghee) 

Relax

A warm bath with your favorite music & soothing aroma candles is a great closure for the day.

One should prefer such easily digestible food and a detoxifying diet for the next 2 days which is low in calories and soothing for G.I tract making your senses calm and re-kindling.

Lets see your Love, relationship with a new perspective. Ayurveda explained different personalities and Prakruti. The three energies play a romantic role in our life too.

The bond of love and affection starts when someone likes another’s nature, his or her company and feeling of support and comfort.
Opposite poles attract each other. And this is very true if we consider our emotional and psychological traits.

In Ayurveda body constitution or body type or Prakruti is defined as Manas that is emotional and psychological and sharir i.e. physical and physiological. If you know the body type of your partner you can easily accept or change yourself for a better life.

Body type not only covers the mind state but also their physical appearance, strength, stamina and digestion, metabolism which leads to final immunity.

If you could find out whether this is a normal or balanced state of your partner then you can easily accept their habits, nature and food preferences. As A Result, no one will blame others by their nature or hobbies or food habits.

Kapha

A Kapha person is very calm, steady and loves arts. To balance kapha needs the opposite pitta. Pitta is very courageous, dynamic and supports the kapha mind. Also, Vata is very creative and charming which enhances kapha artistic mind. Plan for a romantic candle light dinner or musical mehfil.

Kapha has slow digestion and slow metabolism. Select light and low calorie diets. Take care of meals with a frequency of 2 or 3 times a day.So if your partner cooks or orders food of your preference then that is most healthy. Order healthy soups like veg clear or lemon coriander soup with rice recipes like biryani or Mexican sizzlers for your valentine.

Kapha can work out heavily and steadily but for less duration has poor stamina. Kapha people have more inclination towards laziness, sluggishness. So, making him or her active, motivate for physical exercise is the real partner.

Pitta

Pitta is very dynamic, aggressive and with quick anger. To cool down this, kapha helps with its calm and loving nature. Kapha is more loving and compassionate to Pitta. Pitta are very romantic and express their feelings gently. Pitta partner should or can surprise him or her with romantic, soothing, candle Riverside light dinner and calming music.

Pitta has a strong appetite and digestion. Pitta loves sweet, bitter, and astringent. Pitta people can consume heavy and high calories diets. Prepare 3 to 4 heavy meals for pitta partners. Italian, Mexican, Punjabi  food is the correct menu for this valentine.

Pitta has moderate stamina so go for a mild gym workout, swimming and fresh air exercises more.

Vata

Vata’s personality is very much creative, cherishing and full of energy and enthusiasm. And so to control it needs the steadiness of kapha and to flow this energy in the correct and positive way needs pitta support. Throwing a dance party with many friends will be a big surprise and appreciable to Vata.

Vata has irregular hunger and unstable digestion with fair strength and good stamina. Vata likes sweet, sour and salty food. Go for chole bhature, pasta, sizzlers, milk shakes or chat and street food menus.

Go for good workouts together with more mountaineering, running and biking.

In many cultures, wine is considered a symbol of celebration and is often served during special occasions, including romantic dinners, weddings and anniversaries. Drinking wine together can be a bonding experience, as it allows you to slow down, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. And what is the best moment to experience all these emotions together, it’s none other than “Valentine’s Day.”

In terms of selecting a wine to pair with your favorite romantic meal and the special moment, it really depends on your personal preference, likes and choices and in most times the availability. The wine drinking and tasting trend is growing globally and India is not behind in any way. Today we will be helping you out choosing the right Wines for your best moment tomorrow as well as anytime you want to experience the same feeling later. Just keep in mind that “Moderation is the Key” and Wines are best when they are enjoyed slowly, in little quantities and with great companions or great food.

You will be surprised to see that we now grow and age our own Wines in India. We have a rich history of enjoying fermented drinks and with a pinch of spices, and in recent years, wine has become more popular among Indian consumers as well as India wines are getting popular abroad. The wine market in India is growing, with a preference for sweet, fruity, and low alcohol content wines.

Wines are paired to counterbalance the burn of spices/chilies/peppers are wines that have these 3 traits: they’re served cold, they have lower alcohol, and some sweetness.

Its low alcohol content makes it a popular choice among Indian wine drinkers. Moscato is best paired with many popular dishes including chicken masala, vindaloo lamb and vegetable jalfrezi, mostly all fried, spicy curries can be paired with them. The key to pairing wine with this dish is to respect the spice level by matching it with fruity wines that can be served cool or cold and to complement the red tomatoes with a red or rosé wine.

Zinfandel: Zinfandel is a bold red wine with fruity and spicy notes, which makes it a good match for Indian cuisine. It has a moderate alcohol content and is a popular choice for special occasions. Zinfandel is often paired with the popular Korma, Pasanda, Makhani (Butter Chicken), Tikka Masala, Malai, Panner, Mushroom, Tofu grilled or Tandoor dishes. These dishes use heavy cream, half-and-half, hung curd, or coconut milk to soften rich spices and form a thick sauce. Zinfandel pairs best with slow cooked, charred dishes which have zingy, peppery high spice levels.

Riesling: Riesling is a white wine with a sweet, fruity flavors that can complement spicy Indian dishes. It has a low to medium alcohol content and is a good choice for those who prefer a lighter wine. This is one of the most popular paired Wine with most Indian cuisines and you will always find one of them on the Specials Menu. Riesling is often paired with milder, softer preparations like yellow curries, chana masala or Rajma masala, Tikki’s, Kaju curry, etc.

Shiraz: Shiraz is a full-bodied red wine with spicy and fruit flavors, making it a good match for spicy Indian dishes. It has a moderate alcohol content and is a popular choice for special occasions. This is the most romantic colored Wine and most favorites when you want to toast to something more intimate. Shiraz is best paired with leafy greens that are slow cooked with creams, onions, and spices to create a rich herbaceous sauce. The most popular dishes are the ones with Lamb or slow cooked meat options.

Prosecco or Rose wine: Rose is a versatile wine that can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of foods. It has a light and refreshing flavors and is a great option for a romantic Valentine’s Day evening. Due to its low alcohol content, it is also enjoyed by most to keep the magic of the evening kindling and going on. Prosecco and Rose wine are best paired with deep fried samosas, momos to anything rich, creamy sauces, like makhani or butter chicken or paneer combinations.

Rediscovering Ayurveda with Atreya innovations – My journey

Evolution is a phase in which gradual, consistent processes of change and development occur.

The same can be said about me. I have evolved gradually, carrying only the best with me and shedding off the things which hamper my growth.
In this journey I have been fortunate to be associated with Atreya Innovations. Atreya Innovations has come up with products having a confluence of three sciences namely- Ayurveda, Technology and Nutrition science.

I, Vaidya Shillpa Jamdarkhana, have been part of Atreya Innovations for the past 2 years. Prior to this I had worked with Atreya for a brief period on contractual basis in 2018.
I have been a part of the healthcare industry in various fields before 2018. I have worked in the StemCells industry for 2 years. After that I started working in a renowned wellness organization based on Ayurveda as a center manager. There I was trained as a Center doctor and a Center Manager as well. Though my main role was that of the manager, I gained good knowledge of wellness, patient interaction and Ayurveda herbs that could be used in the lifestyle management of patients. I also was introduced to nutrition science in this organization. I had to part with this organization due to personal reasons and I was unable to work for six months due to it.

In 2018 when things were better at my personal end, I reached out to my friends for any opportunities. At that time, I was introduced to Atreya Innovations in January 2018. I contacted Vaidya Tejaswini Bhale ma’am, and my interview was arranged. During the interview I had least expectations but my enthusiasm to learn was the foremost. I honestly told Vaidya Tejaswini and Aniruddha sir that I did not have much exposure to clinical practice of Ayurveda. Both of them just wanted to know if I was ready to learn the use of Ayurveda in technology and I was of course ready.

After a few days I had a positive response from Atreya and my work started. I visited the office at Hinjewadi to practice taking Nadi on the Nadi Tarangini device. The office staff helped me with this. After sufficient practice I traveled and visited clinics for data collection. Tejaswini ma’am introduced me to these clinics. I mainly visited clinics treating PCOD, PCOS, Hypertension and Infertility disorders.

There with the patient’s consent I would collect the required data for the research of Nadi Tarangini, the Nadi Pariksha device. That was a time of great learning and new beginnings for me and opened new doors of Ayurveda and technology. I parted with Atreya after a few weeks. Later I worked for cancer patients to benefit them with grants from Tata Cancer Hospital for their treatments. That was another learning phase for me. I facilitated the proper documentation for grants required for prosthodontic surgery of cancer patients. These documents were sent to Tata Cancer Trust and some part of funding was procured. It required counseling of cancer patients, talking to them in their native language, making them understand the process etc.

During this period, I learnt virtual scribing which is a thriving industry in healthcare abroad. During the pandemic I also counseled young students in a very different field not related to healthcare. My counseling skills helped me to successfully accomplish this task.

After the pandemic again I had the opportunity to join Atreya Innovations in April 2021. Atreya had come up with a new product called Turyaa. Turyaa is a patient centric Nadi Pariksha device and has an app named Turyaa wellness. Turyaa is similar to Atreya’s product Nadi Tarangini. I joined as an Ayurveda Wellness Coach.

I counseled the patients through online consultations using the Turyaa app as a telemedicine platform. I advised the patients on diet and lifestyle recommendations. My experience in counseling in the wellness industry helped me immensely.

Now my journey at Atreya Innovations continues with the product Nadi Tarangini. The product has undergone a few changes with a lot of added features and is useful in various healthcare sectors for Nadi Pariksha.

I am proud and humbled to have been able to contribute at Atreya Innovations to its various products and the journey continues to be extremely delightful and knowledgeable.

“Devil in Disguise”: Did you know Lifestyle factors can cause Cancer!

“No matter what the statistics say, there is always a way”. But the fact is that all stats Globally say, there is a high rise in the number of cases of most non-communicable diseases, especially Cancer is at high risk across ages and continents. It’s high time that we really focus on some important Lifestyle factors that could be totally avoided. Each year we hope to see these statistics of Incidence rate going up and each year we fail…. it’s getting to be like a “Devil in disguise” always waiting for us, wanting us!!!

What we need to have been a change in the way we think, our attitudes…It’s pretty easy and common to say “Chalta hain na bhai, kuch nahi hota hain. Daily thoda alcohol pene se kya problem hoga, iss se Cancer nahi hota?
Or “I like to have a suntan every year in the Caribbean, I use sunblock, so I don’t have a risk of skin cancer??”
Or “Isn’t it true that people who smoke more than a packet of cigarettes get cancer, I mean I actually use E-cigarette!! “
Or “At night I utilize my time by listening to podcasts on my Wireless speakers, come on, speakers dont emit radiation, ok???”
Have you heard people around you saying this with a “ignore maro” tone? And do you also with a big question mark attitude think of “jane do bhai, aapane ko iss kya lena dena” and “just moved on” by thinking nope, these wrong or ignorant lifestyle inclusions cannot be a risk factor for we are getting closer to Cancer…what I am thinking!! Well then, my friend, you really need to get your knowledge updated.

The truth is we have the power to minimize the effects of these lifestyle factors around us, kind of lurking around us-captivating-pulling us towards them, and but we do maximize the chance of keeping our health good and live a long and happy life under constant thought and pressure and that longing for “Living happily ever after”. Let’s give it a thought today and know how our changing Lifestyle factors are now the true risk factors for Cancer just like the “Devil in Disguise”?

Smoking fashion: We all know “Smoking Kills’ ‘…then whether it’s 1 cigarette to a pack of cigarettes or even new age E-Cigarettes or flavored Hookahs’. They all have tobacco or nicotine like substances being the leading cause of death due to Lung cancers or Oral cancers worldwide, on usage over a period of time. With prosperity, power comes money and money attracts all these upend mindsets. We need to inculcate the habit that with good money you may follow your dreams of traveling around, pursuing new hobby’s and still be followed & liked on Instagram or Snapchat by your group of friends & Followers, with a bonus of living a long life and saving the money you would have smoked away otherwise!!

Alcohol fad: With the rise in “Happy Hours’ & “Good Times” we all embraced the saying “Alcohol is man’s worst enemy. But the Bible Says’ Love thy enemy”. I mean we have really accepted this worst enemy of ours and the rising numbers of incidence rates of Liver damage, pancreatic cancers or colorectal cancers have been on the rise too. Not to forget deaths due to “drink & drive” and falls and violence. Ethanol or Ethyl alcohol in small or large quantities is fatal to your heart, brain & liver. Whatever brands big or small, local or imported, all types of Alcohol fads affect your health in a big way. Your body, your genes and the type of diet you consume with alcohol all have shown to have a high correlation with developing cancers in later ages. Staying away from Alcohol is simply & truly “Living Life King-Size ”.

Gadget Freak: “Your cell phone has replaced your friends, your adventures, your memory… but don’t let it replace You”. We have all become gadget freaks. All ages from babies to oldies all are constantly with their smartphone. We cannot imagine our lives without our cell phones, internet, social media, even the blog I am writing is using my laptop. It has spanned our lives, our homes, offices, schools, everywhere we go. 

There is no life without them. We sleep with our phones next to our pillows nearing the charging points. We eat dinner around the table with eyes on the TV or iPad screens. We go out for a run and our smart watches are paired with our Bluetooth headphones because we are relaxing with music…. we are never ever without our gadgets…. But we forget that these are electronic devices, and they breathe out or emit radiation and some can be extremely hazardous. The radiation exposure in the long term may cause serious health conditions like brain tumors, blood cancer and some have already shown birth-defects in babies. We read about this so many times and we also follow a thorough “Digital Detox” on a weekly or monthly basis, just like any other “Fad”. Can we come out of this “Digital mode” and turn on the “No-gadget mode” for just 1 moment of our life and for the sake of our health. “Time to get into a digital lockdown, it’s Time to think”.

Bold Beauty: “Wear the Real You!!” This saying has become the new “Skincare Mantra” of the decade. Most daily cleansing materials, skin care products, cosmetic goods all speak this one language. “Explore our best, organic, non-comedogenic, paraben free, cruelty free products and we will make you feel 10 years younger just like a “Baby’s skin-The Real You”. To a great extent new age skin care products are getting really good, highly advanced, organic, expensive. But excess use of these skin care products can cause skin cancers or extreme skin issues. So, trust me the Instagramable “No Make-up” is the new look and a good weekly detox is a must for a perfect Skin care routine. Go ahead flaunt that clear skin and be the New “Bold & Beautiful”.

There could be several reasons, elements or issues that could be the risk factor for having Cancer. But it is said by the wise “What you do today can improve all your tomorrows”. So, staying natural, being yourself, sleeping well & trusting your body signs are some great ways to early prevention of any disease, even the worst of the Cancers. Let’s pledge in honor of all those amazing Cancer Survivors that we will “stay safe, be calm & fight on” this Devil in Disguise together!!!
