Revolutionizing Our Product: A Look at the Latest Changes from Our CTO

Nadi Tarangini, Atreya Innovations’ flagship product, has received a great reception from practitioners from Ayurveda across India. It is the de-facto diagnostic instrument for many Ayurveda practitioners to reshape and enhance their practices. Atreya Innovations has been a pioneer and leader in the instrumentalization or digitalization of Ayurveda.

Nadi Tarangini has become a true success story in the world of Ayurveda. There are many reasons behind its success, but some of the most important include the ergonomic design of the product, its accuracy and repeatability in diagnostic analysis, and transformation of complex subjective domain knowledge into objective parameters. This is why it was honored with the esteemed “Product Design” accolade presented by Lexus Design.
Additionally, the detailed report card that comes with the product gives Ayurvedic practitioners great insight into their patients’ conditions, allowing for more targeted treatment plans. The instrument is also conveniently accessible and easy to use, further adding to its appeal.
All of these factors have helped reshape the way Ayurvedic practitioners approach their practice. With a more objective, trustworthy, and patient satisfaction-oriented approach, practitioners can now deliver even better results to their patients. We take great pride in hearing countless success stories from our customers who have used the Nadi Tarangini.

But we are not stopping here. With the same commitment to improving our offerings, we are thrilled to announce the launch of new products aimed at expanding our reach and introducing the benefits of digitalized Ayurveda to the world. Here is a sneak peak of our upcoming product launches.

1. Ayurveda on Mobile

Available on iOS

To support our large set of customers, we're proud to announce that we're launching the Nadi Tarangini app for iPhone users. We've heard the increasing demand from our domestic and international customers to be able to use the app on Apple devices, and we took their feedback very seriously.

Thanks to our team of developers and testers, we were able to create the Nadi Tarangini app for iOS in record time. Now, iPhone users can also unleash the benefits of Nadi Tarangini based modern Ayurvedic diagnostics.

Available on Android

While the Nadi Tarangini mobile app was available for Android devices, it was being circulated privately. We're happy to announce that we're launching the official mobile app for Android on the Play Store. Both versions of the mobile app are going to have many exciting features, such as auto-save that automatically saves all reports to the cloud database, upgraded APIs that make the app faster and more reliable, and an enhanced look and feel to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.

2. Aarogya Darshika Report Card

We’ve recently launched a simplified version of the report card called the “Aarogya Darshika.” This concise report card is in language that can be understood by anyone, making it insightful for amateurs. The report card has already created a lot of sensation amongst our customers, and the powers of such simple and insightful report cards are many.

Providing this report card to your patients/customers for a charge is proving to be a successful model in terms of both ROI and customer satisfaction. The report can be generated in English/ Hindi/Marathi on the fly, with support for more languages underway. It has an easy-to-read summary about Prakruti and Nadi-based Vikruti and recommends diet and lifestyle-related suggestions. It even recommends a detailed meal plan for an entire week!

3. Enhanced Battery Backup

We’ve upgraded the Nadi Tarangini hardware from Bluetooth Classic to Bluetooth Low Energy, which has improved the product’s battery life. This change doesn’t affect the accuracy or reliability of the product, but it significantly lowers the power consumption requirement of the device, making its battery last longer.

In conclusion, we want you to know that our journey to provide the very best products and services is far from over. We are continuously working on exciting modifications and upgrades to our offerings, and we always prioritize listening to the needs and desires of our customers. Our commitment to delivering world-class solutions that enhance your life and the lives of your customers remains unwavering. Thank you for choosing us, and we look forward to continuing to exceed your expectations.

Stay tuned for even more innovative solutions from Nadi Tarangini!

Value your life by saving water

World Water Day is celebrated on the 22nd of March every year to raise awareness about the importance of water and the need to conserve and manage it sustainably. The significance of World Water Day is to overcome the issues of the global water crisis and the measures that can be taken to address this issue.
Water is an essential resource for life, and it plays a crucial role in preserving the environment, agriculture, industry, and human health. However, despite its importance, the world is facing a severe water crisis.

According to studies an estimated 2.2 billion people have no access to safe drinking water and 4.2 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services. The situation is further aggravated by. climate change, pollution, and overuse of water resources, leading to water scarcity, drought, and water-related conflicts.
The theme for World Water Day 2023 is “Valuing Water,” which aims to emphasize the economic, social, and cultural value of water and the need to manage it in an unbiased and sustainable manner. The theme also seeks to highlight the role of individual communities and stakeholders in ensuring access to safe and affordable water for all.

Life on earth depends on water which makes earth unique from other planets. On earth 70% of water is present but only about 3% of Earth’s water is freshwater. Of that, only about 1.2 % can be used as drinking water; the rest is locked up in glaciers, ice caps, and permafrost, or buried deep in the ground. Most of our drinking water comes from rivers and streams. The human body has a similar composition with 70 % water which plays a major role in carrying out all the physiological processes. Water is crucial to ingest and expel in the physiological process for any living being. Water has equal importance to other nutrients as it naturally contains lots of electrolytes.

Our ancient science also has depicted ways of water consumption according to the seasons and different time zones of the day.

  • In Varsha rutu (Rainy season) water has to be boiled and one should have it in lukewarm form.
  • In Shishir rutu (winter Season) one should keep water in copper vessels so that it remains warm and provides body heat which is needed in harsh winters.
  • In Grishma rutu (Summer Season) one should consume water preserved in mud pots. Additionally, one may add some herbal roots like Vala to this water to serve as a coolant and reduce the aggravated heat.

To address the global water crisis, several measures can be taken.

  • Firstly, there is a need to improve water governance and management by involving local communities and stakeholders in decision-making processes.
  • Secondly, there should be a focus on water conservation and efficiency measures, such as rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment, and water reuse.
  • Thirdly, there should be a concerted effort to address the root causes of the water crisis, including poverty, inequality, and climate change.

In conclusion, World Water Day is an important occasion to raise awareness about the global water crisis and the need to manage water resources sustainably. By valuing water and taking concrete measures to conserve and manage it, we can ensure access to safe and affordable water for all and contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world.

Do the earth a favor, be a water saver.

Foundation Day’s Wishes and Announcements– from CEO’s desk

Dear Atreyians, Namaskar!

Atreya Innovations is celebrating its 8th anniversary today, and I would like to congratulate everyone on this special occasion. The past 8 years have been a roller coaster ride full of ups and downs, but with the power of teamwork, research, innovation, trust, and excellence, we have found our path. We have gained valuable experience, strengthened our skills, achieved outstanding results, satisfied our customers, and forged numerous collaborations. Today, I humbly express my appreciation to all of our employees, clients, and partners, and share my thoughts for the upcoming year.

India, along with the rest of the world, has witnessed the challenging COVID-19 outbreak, which has caused financial and emotional turmoil. Despite these difficulties, Atreya has managed to survive, thanks to the unwavering support of our early customers, employees, mentors, and family members. This difficult period has been a valuable teacher for all of us, redefining many of our relationships and friendships.

It’s worth noting that the COVID-19 outbreak has actually resulted in a significant increase in the market size for our product, as well as a more positive mindset towards our segment among our customers. Additionally, it has opened up numerous avenues and funding opportunities in our field. Therefore, it is crucial for us to remain focused on the changing business dynamics to maintain our leadership position.

Over the last several months, receiving the National Startup Award, as well as a special mention from Hon. Modiji, and earning valuable certifications have undoubtedly boosted our comeback. With angel investments and a government grant secured, we have taken bold next steps, including receiving LOIs from three large corporations, signing MOUs with eight prestigious institutions, expanding Nadi Tarangini to two more verticals, and working towards addressing non-communicable disorders. Additionally, we have invested in innovative technologies to ensure that our product is future-ready for third-party integrations.

It has been three years since we introduced something new as COVID held us for some time, but today I am excited to make a few important announcements for the upcoming months:

First and foremost, I am pleased to announce that the Nadi Tarangini app is now available on iOS. Our team has worked diligently to develop an iOS-supported software that was long overdue. This achievement is crucial as we prepare to launch a significant project with a Europe-based corporation in June.

It is essential to have iOS-supported and GDPR-compliant product to comply with European guidelines. With the first step successfully executed, we will now focus on ensuring compliance with these regulations.

Secondly, I am excited to announce that we will be launching Nadi Tarangini for the global market. With granted patents in Europe and Indonesia, and pending patents in other geographies, we will now expand our team and establish a presence in all seven continents.

Thirdly, I am pleased to announce that Nadi Tarangini is now available on easy EMI. With our Razorpay integration, doctors can easily make payments. Customers can enter the required details and select EMI as the payment method on the Razorpay Checkout, and then click Pay Now.

If the amount entered in the Checkout is eligible for a discount, all eligible plans provided by the card issuer will be displayed in the EMI options. This option is especially beneficial for doctors who are in the initial stages of their practice and want to provide a digital clinic experience for their patients.

Fourthly, this year, we will focus our research on the Nadi-based Diabetes monitor, which will provide a completely non-invasive and holistic way to take care of people every day. We have received a significant grant for this project and have signed MOUs with some of the best institutes in India.

We aim to gather the best researchers, diabetologists, Ayurveda experts, and statisticians to validate and create a Nadi-based continuous monitor for Diabetes. Our product will provide much more information than a blood report or a diabetes meter, and we will ensure it is simple to use and revolutionary for those who need it.

Most importantly, by the end of 2023, we will launch the high-quality specialized analytics platform ASHOKA. This intelligent platform is named after Vaidyaraj Ashok Bhat, who initiated the whole project and has given us his blessings for the journey. Nadi Tarangini and ASHOKA platform together will provide the world’s most personal and portable health monitor based on Ayurveda and data science. This innovative product will help consumers get back to a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Any new idea takes time, and no ranking or statistics, or even what people say about us can fully reflect the true spirit that Atreya embodies. Atreya’s success lies with the people who closely engage with us. Over time, our solution has evolved from being met with skepticism to achieving nationwide adoption. You, both past and present employees, are the strength of Atreya. It is you who have built this organization, and who continue to carry it forward. FY22-23 was a good year for us, and with the new announcements mentioned above, I hope for this year to be even more fruitful. Let’s all work together and do our best!

Looking forward to our continued and happy association! Let the good times go on!

With best wishes and warm regards,
Dr. Aniruddha Joshi, CEO, Atreya Innovations

Women’s Hormone: A Seeding Story

The “Divine” has created this universe and many ecosystems, which includes many living and nonliving things. To sustain this ecosystem, he thought to create an organism that could reproduce, and thus he created “feminine beings” in every creature. This feminine being could create and nurture.

In human beings, females reproduce and nourish as they have some peculiar physical and physiological characteristics. Hormones play a key role in maintaining these characteristics. Menarche is one of the first stages in a female’s life during the adolescent period and continues as a regular monthly menstrual cycle for fertility. This cycle ends with menopause after a particular duration. This cycle of menarche to menopause in a female act as a shield to protect her from various diseases and disorders.

Let us dig deeper into the of a female as follows:.

1. Menarche

Starting phase of the reproductive period: Estrogen and Progesterone are the key players of the whole cycle. Sound nourishment and a healthy lifestyle during childhood and adolescence are the necessities of a healthy menstrual cycle.

Menarche also brings in newly bodily changes, skin issues, digestion changes causing sensitivity. Adding seeds like carrom (ajwain) or cumin (jeera) & coriander (dhaniya) seeds in small quantities to their diets provides relief from period pains or cramps.

2. Fertile stage up to 30 years:

Women’s peak reproductive years are from the late teens to 40 years of their age. The menstrual cycle has three phases in a month:

i) Follicular phase:

The Follicular phase is the first phase of 1 to 14 days. Growth and development of the follicles occur in this phase due to the rise in Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) secreted by the Pituitary gland. Basal body temperature stays normal in this phase while Estrogen levels rise gradually. During the ovulation phase, they are at a peak.

During this phase, female physiology needs micronutrients such as Vitamin B12, D, C-rich foods, Calcium, Zinc, Iron-rich foods, essential fatty acids with phytoestrogens. All these nutrients are available in superfoods like flax and pumpkin seeds, Avocado, milk, red meat, walnuts, and dandelions. Such foods are good in the follicular phase for ease of menstruation.

According to Ayurveda principles, Kapha dosha dominates in the follicular phase and is called Rutu kala. Kapha dosha – acts as the binding substance. It is a synonym for ojas, which nourishes, supports, and gives strength. Owing to this property of Kapha, it usually involves the follicular phase until ovulation.
Seeds like ‘flax seeds & pumpkin seeds’ taken in small quantities over small periods will help reduce the aggravated Vata, balance Kapha, and serve as binding & strengthening agents in this phase. Always add the seeds to your diet under guidance of an Expert.

ii) Ovulation phase:

The Corpus luteum, the outer covering of the remaining follicle secretes Progesterone and Estrogen. The timeline of the ovulation phase is from the 13th day to the 14th day. One of the follicles matures into the egg and gets released from an ovary which moves along a fallopian tube toward the uterus. It can last for 16 – 32 hours.

Estrogen levels are at the peak, thickening the endometrial linings and breast tenderness. It could be a preparatory phase for pregnancy. If the egg gets fertilized with sperm, only then the pregnancy occurs else that egg starts disintegrating. It is the beginning of the next phase.

Adding seeds like sesame seeds (roasted) with dill seeds (balantshepa or suva seeds toasted) added with black salt or with a small pellet of jaggery can help in balancing the hormones.

iii) Luteinizing Phase:

The luteinizing phase starts from day 15 – day 28. Progesterone hormone starts gradually increasing and is at its peak between the 22nd-24th day. Along with this, Estrogen levels rise gradually which dropped just after ovulation.

One needs to consume foods that will improve the secretion of progesterone. There are no particular foods containing progesterone, but the following foods will certainly help elevate progesterone secretion and ease this part of the cycle.

# Fiber-rich food: Oats, Flax seeds and Quinoa
# Zinc-rich food: Lean beef, seafood, Pumpkin and squash seeds and nuts

# Vitamin B6-rich food: Sunflower seeds, fish, Turkey and dried fruits (dates, apricots, raisins)
# Magnesium-rich food: Spinach, fish, dark chocolate, whole grains (Barley, Bulgur, also called cracked wheat, Farro, Quinoa Black rice, Brown rice)
# Vitamin C-rich food: Oranges, broccoli, Kiwi
# L-Arginine-rich food: Lentils, Salmon, pumpkin seeds, pork, chicken, lean beef.

3. Post 30 physiological changes:

After 30, metabolism starts declining which impacts the quality of the ovum and hormonal secretions. Women should take care of their diet and Lifestyle to overcome these physiological changes.

To increase metabolic rate, one should perform physical activities like Yoga, exercise, Brisk walking, Pranayama, meditation, etc, and consume superfoods like nuts and oil seeds which may boost the secretion of feminine hormones. Adding seeds like flax seeds (roasted) with dill seeds (balantshepa or suva seeds toasted) along with salt and made into a powder can be consumed with a glass of warm water or buttermilk post meals can help in balancing the metabolism.

4. Post 40 physiological changes:

By every decade, metabolism declines 7-10% of every individual body. Also, the water content of the body reduces due to advancing age. Female body composition has a high-fat percentage as they tend to have lower metabolism by birth than males.

Pre and perimenopausal changes begin between 40- 50 years of female age that may depend on their genetic makeup and lifestyle.

Adding seeds like toasted pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds along with carrom or dill seeds in small amounts and consuming post lunch & dinner have shown effect in taking care of the pre-menopausal symptoms.

5. Post 50 physiological changes:

Usually, in most females, menopause occurs between 50 -60 years of age or early menopause may occur. The ovulation process ceases and ultimately there will be no ovum production, leading to no secretions of female hormones like Estrogen and Progesterone.

From menarche to menopause, female health is under the protection of these feminine hormones. Metabolism is effective and boosts psychological strength to overcome conditions like stress, anxiety, nervousness, etc. During menopause, females must take care of their health, as such valued protection is ripe off. Calcium metabolism disturbs that leads to less calcium deposition in bones and muscles, reducing bone density, and muscular strength. Due to these physiological changes, females are more vulnerable to disorders like osteoporosis, arthritis, and sarcopenia. Also, they become more emotionally sensitive.

According to Ayurveda principles, the menopausal stage is a period of Vata domination. The lower abdomen and pelvic region are the site of “Apana Vayu” which has expulsion as the main function. As dryness is one of the characteristics of Vata, it causes dryness to the inner lining of the uterus, vagina, skin, hair, etc. Aggravated Vata leads to several psychological issues like mood swings, depression, and anxiety.

Sometimes in some females, Pitta aggravation in the menopausal stage may lead to symptoms like anger, irritability, hot flushes and sweating.

The Kapha dosha gets reduced due to Vata predominance, which decreases the binding capability and lubrication of the Strotasas.
Adapting to lifestyle changes and consuming superfoods like nuts and seeds can overcome physiological and psychological stress. These superfoods are packed with essential nutrients with phytochemicals that boost feminine hormones required for ease of journey from menarche to menopause.

Adding seeds like roasted sesame seeds and flax seeds with turmeric and pink salt and consumed early morning on empty stomach helps in managing the changes in the hormones and also help with the symptoms.

Thank you for reading the story of seed formation in a female, which gives rise to creation, and the cycle will continue until eternity!!

Happy International Women’s Day 2023.

Rediscovering Ayurveda with Atreya innovations – My journey

Evolution is a phase in which gradual, consistent processes of change and development occur.

The same can be said about me. I have evolved gradually, carrying only the best with me and shedding off the things which hamper my growth.
In this journey I have been fortunate to be associated with Atreya Innovations. Atreya Innovations has come up with products having a confluence of three sciences namely- Ayurveda, Technology and Nutrition science.

I, Vaidya Shillpa Jamdarkhana, have been part of Atreya Innovations for the past 2 years. Prior to this I had worked with Atreya for a brief period on contractual basis in 2018.
I have been a part of the healthcare industry in various fields before 2018. I have worked in the StemCells industry for 2 years. After that I started working in a renowned wellness organization based on Ayurveda as a center manager. There I was trained as a Center doctor and a Center Manager as well. Though my main role was that of the manager, I gained good knowledge of wellness, patient interaction and Ayurveda herbs that could be used in the lifestyle management of patients. I also was introduced to nutrition science in this organization. I had to part with this organization due to personal reasons and I was unable to work for six months due to it.

In 2018 when things were better at my personal end, I reached out to my friends for any opportunities. At that time, I was introduced to Atreya Innovations in January 2018. I contacted Vaidya Tejaswini Bhale ma’am, and my interview was arranged. During the interview I had least expectations but my enthusiasm to learn was the foremost. I honestly told Vaidya Tejaswini and Aniruddha sir that I did not have much exposure to clinical practice of Ayurveda. Both of them just wanted to know if I was ready to learn the use of Ayurveda in technology and I was of course ready.

After a few days I had a positive response from Atreya and my work started. I visited the office at Hinjewadi to practice taking Nadi on the Nadi Tarangini device. The office staff helped me with this. After sufficient practice I traveled and visited clinics for data collection. Tejaswini ma’am introduced me to these clinics. I mainly visited clinics treating PCOD, PCOS, Hypertension and Infertility disorders.

There with the patient’s consent I would collect the required data for the research of Nadi Tarangini, the Nadi Pariksha device. That was a time of great learning and new beginnings for me and opened new doors of Ayurveda and technology. I parted with Atreya after a few weeks. Later I worked for cancer patients to benefit them with grants from Tata Cancer Hospital for their treatments. That was another learning phase for me. I facilitated the proper documentation for grants required for prosthodontic surgery of cancer patients. These documents were sent to Tata Cancer Trust and some part of funding was procured. It required counseling of cancer patients, talking to them in their native language, making them understand the process etc.

During this period, I learnt virtual scribing which is a thriving industry in healthcare abroad. During the pandemic I also counseled young students in a very different field not related to healthcare. My counseling skills helped me to successfully accomplish this task.

After the pandemic again I had the opportunity to join Atreya Innovations in April 2021. Atreya had come up with a new product called Turyaa. Turyaa is a patient centric Nadi Pariksha device and has an app named Turyaa wellness. Turyaa is similar to Atreya’s product Nadi Tarangini. I joined as an Ayurveda Wellness Coach.

I counseled the patients through online consultations using the Turyaa app as a telemedicine platform. I advised the patients on diet and lifestyle recommendations. My experience in counseling in the wellness industry helped me immensely.

Now my journey at Atreya Innovations continues with the product Nadi Tarangini. The product has undergone a few changes with a lot of added features and is useful in various healthcare sectors for Nadi Pariksha.

I am proud and humbled to have been able to contribute at Atreya Innovations to its various products and the journey continues to be extremely delightful and knowledgeable.
